Loire

The Loire Valley is one of France’s most dynamic wine regions. The Loire has it all: dry and sweet, still and sparkling, white and red. It has so much to offer…

The appellations are divided into four formally organized sub regions: Nantes, Anjour-Saumur, Touraine and Centre-Loire. Within each are numerous sub-appellations and more than 3,000 producers making sparkling, still and dessert wines.

The key white-wine grape varieties are Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Melon de Bourgogne and Chardonnay. The number one red-wine variety is unquestionably Cabernet Franc. The Lighter-bodied reds are Pinot Noir, Malbec and Gamay.
