Still quite deeply colored. An expressive nose offering fine complexity displays plenty of obvious secondary aromas that are nuanced by notes of sous-bois, earth, game, smoke and spice plus a distinct animale character. The equally complex flavors are intense, round, rich, concentrated and powerful with an ever-so-slightly firm edge to the otherwise long and mildly austere finish. This is softer and better balanced than the typical '88 and overall the Grivot Riche is drinking well now and should continue to hold if not improve for another decade, perhaps longer. I would further note however that notwithstanding how well this most recent bottle showed, I have had a number of bottles that were not this good (being more in the 90 to 91 point range), which is to say that there is ample bottle variation.
