Allen Meadows - Score: 88 (2014 Apr.)

A highly aromatic and beautifully complex nose features discreet but not invisible oak influence along with lovely floral hints to the fresh, ripe and mature dark berry fruit and earth suffused aromas. There is good richness and detail to the lightly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that possess a fine sense of energy but not the depth or sophistication displayed on the nose, all wrapped in a solidly long finish. This is one of those wines that has a truly distinguished nose but an average plus amount of depth and length so some may like this more than I do. To be sure, this is a very pretty wine but it's not special in the context of what Leroy typically does with it. In terms of drinkability for my taste this has reached its peak though it should be capable of holding at this plateau for another decade.
