A fresh, ripe and nicely layered nose offers up notes of petrol, citrus and apple that are trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The caressing, round and nicely plump medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality while delivering fine depth and length. Lovely.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale Blanc has a primal, grapefruit and Williams pear bouquet. The palate is well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity and lightly spiced with ginger and touches of white pepper, although I find it just missing a little mineralité and tension on the finish this year. Head for the red instead.
