A hint of reduction does not materially detract from the white orchard fruit and lemon-tinged aromas. Here too there is excellent punch to the overtly saline-inflected medium weight flavors that are markedly dry where the citrus element flashed by the nose resurfaces. This is really quite good and worth checking out.

The 2016 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru has a fleshy nose with loose-knit red fruit, potent scorched earth aromas with a slight torrefactory element. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet tannins on the entry and a fine bead of acidity. It seems quite forward in style and is just missing some depth on the finish. One of the earlier drinking wines from Morey. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
