The 1969 La Romanée is dark, burly and also a bit rough around the edges. Still, the wine preserves enough depth and overall intensity to drink well for another handful of years, perhaps longer. Black cherries, smoke and leather give the 1969 much of its remarkable mid-palate density. The 1969 is one of the surprises of this flight and the tasting.
