A ripe and very earthy nose speaks mostly of poached plum, spice and plenty of sauvage character. There is excellent volume and power if not the same mid-palate density of the best in the range to the big-bodied, muscular and energetic flavors that deliver very fine length on the serious, compact and youthfully austere finale. This brooding and well-balanced effort is terrific and a wine that should amply reward mid to long-term keeping.
