Vinous - Score: 88+ (2001 March)

Roasted, oaky aromas of blackberry, chocolate mint and exotic spices; the barrique notes call to mind Bordeaux. Thick and powerful in the mouth, with a slightly medicinal minty quality and somewhat drying tannins. Not currently showing the sappy red fruit flavors this wine displayed from barrel a year ago. In fact, today I prefer the fruit of the '99.
