(100% grenache from old vines) Bright red. Spicy red berries and blood orange on the slightly high-toned nose. Lively and precise, with tangy red fruit flavors and a faint hint of warmth on the back end. Blends tangy and ripe qualities smoothly like a top-notch zinfandel, finishing with good clarity and an incisive redcurrant note. (The 100%-syrah 2007 Le Chateau bottling was too dominated by oak for my taste.)
