Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 93 (43009)

The fresh and expressive nose offers up notes of strong mineral reduction, green fruit, lemon-lime, tidal pool and oyster shell hints. The full-bodied, rich and muscular big-bodied flavors are succulent and wonderfully textured while delivering outstanding length on the stony, focused and explosive finish. As Raveneau's Valmur almost always is, this is a powerful and serious wine that will require at least 4 to 5 years of cellaring and reward at least a decade's worth.

Vinous - Score: 93-94 (42552)

(these vines are now 40 years old): Very pale yellow. Lemon zest, lime blossom and chalk dust on the nose. Boasts superb inner-mouth tension and energy for the year, with taut calcaire minerality and grapefruit zest dominating. A classic youthfully austere Valmur with a whiplash of a vintage that suffuses the palate with lemon and minerals. This will need at least seven or eight years of bottle aging. No hail here.
