Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 94 (2018 Nov.)

This superb effort displays spicy white flower aromas that introduce sophisticated, pure and gorgeously intense flavors that explode on the strikingly long and chewy finish. The depth here is just terrific and the hallmark minerality is present in spades. And, as is always the casee with this wine, the driving and penetrating finish just lasts and lasts and this is without question truly a stunner of a wine. For my taste this has now arrived at its peak though it should hold here for years to come. Tasted twice in the last two years with consistent notes.

Vinous - Score: 94 (2019 Nov.)

Bright medium yellow. Very ripe but reticent aromas of yellow peach, flowers and saffron, plus a woodsy/floral balsamic note. Very ripe, thick and powerful; not quite honeyed but its utterly silky peach and soft citrus fruit flavors convey a botrytis sweetness leavened by terrific acidity. A very large-scaled if not particularly minerally Clos, finishing with superb length while avoiding warmth and bitterness. (close to 14% alcohol but with good acidity, said Dauvissat, who picked this fruit with 75% noble rot, which he says "concentrated everything, including acidity")
