Allen Meadows - Score: 91 (2017 Jun.)

A touch of reduction is enough to partially mask the earth-inflected ripe red cherry aromas. There is good richness to the relatively dense middle weight flavors that possess a refined mouth feel while delivering good length on the ever-so-slightly warm finale. While not super-complex at present it's also clear that this is very much still on the way up and as such I would expect more depth to develop over the next 5 to 7 years. I would further note that I have had some bottle variation with this wine.

Vinous - Score: 90+ (2015 Mar.)

(the crop level here was freakishly low in 2012 owing to a hailstorm on July 4): Good deep red. Very dark, medicinal aromas of blackberry, blueberry, licorice and black pepper. Broad and fine-grained but powerful and youthfully closed, with its acids and tannins currently clashing on the back. In a distinctly tough style, finishing with a slightly bitter peppery edge. Definitely the odd man out in this 2012 line-up. Am I underrating this?
