While there are a number of producers who craft excellent examples of Pruliers, including Gouges, Taupenot-Merme, Chevillon and Lechéneaut (see all herein), Boillot is consistently the reference standard in my view. Whether it's because of the very old vines or that his parcel is exceptionally well positioned is hard to say but the depth that he manages to suffuse his particular example with is always first rate. A spicy, earthy and moderate elegant ripe red and blue pinot fruit nose complements the serious, rich, full and powerful big-bodied and textured flavors that are blessed with a huge amount of dry extract that lends a textured and concentrated feeling to the gorgeously long finish. The wine of the range and the Pruliers of the vintage, just as it was in 2005 and 2006.
