Allen Meadows - Score: 93-95 (2020 January)

An attractively fresh nose features cool and relatively high-toned red cherry, pomegranate and hints of rose petal, the sauvage and humus. The mouthfeel of the precise, intense and equally fine and mineral-driven medium weight flavors is remarkably sophisticated, all wrapped in an impressively long and complex finish that flashes focused power. I like the mid-palate density but as good as this is, I would observe that for the first time in a number of years, at this early juncture it's not obvious that it is necessarily better than the Ruchottes. Of course, that could well change by the time this matures but at present, it's a horse race.
