Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 93-95 (2009 Aug.)

Wood spice and fantastic extract of black berries, soy and mocha followed by sleekly muscular flavors of superb density and complexity that explode on the palate. This has size, richness, density and length with a beautifully nuanced finish yet for all the size and richness, there is no lack of precision. This is almost painfully intense. Brilliant.

Vinous - Score: 92 (2002 Mar.)

Deep red. Somewhat reticent nose shows an almost roasted ripeness, with hints of black fruits, mocha and sandalwood. Big, broad and sweet; has real grand cru density and richness. Finishes with rich, sweet tannins that are well covered by impressive, mounting fruit. Has the richness and grip for long life.
