Wine Critics Notes:

Allen Meadows - Score: 90 (2012 September)

This is a wine I had a number of times in its youth but I hadn't seen it in some time. The clarity wasn't perfect though the nose displayed no suggestion of off odors or rot that is often present when the clarity isn't what it should be. The fully secondary nose offers up plenty of spice and even a hint of sous bois. There is good richness to the round and relatively generous middle weight flavors that delivers good length and excellent complexity. This is a relatively ripe wine in the context of the '94 vintage and while the underlying tannins are still present they lack only a hair of final maturity. Still, in the context of a very difficult vintage, this is a clear success and one that is drinking perfectly now though I would be looking for reasons to drink up sooner than later.
