The '99 Montrachet more closely resembled the Bâtard whereas the 2000 more closely resembles the Chevalier as this is very discreet and understated with elegant, detailed, and fine aromas yet they are deep and full. There is an indescribable purity of expression here, as though this was derived from liquid rocks and this displays a superb density and sappiness. Despite the power and volume, this comes across as almost silky with stupendous intensity and length that is borderline hard to believe. This may one day surpass the Chevalier but there is slightly better overall harmony and elegance in the Chevy but at this rarified quality level, both will be in my cellar.
