Wine Critics Notes:

Vinous - Score: 92 (2018 July)

The 1947 Latour came from the Avery’s cellar. It is showing just a bit of maderisation on the nose, rather dusty and with too much VA (not uncommon in this vintage). The palate is sweet and candied on the entry with copious red cherry, kirsch and strawberry notes, fine acidity, playful and joyous. It is not a “serious” Latour like the 1949 - this just wants to have fun. But at its core is a fabulous ball of vivacious red fruit that has maintained this Latour through the decades. Tasted at the Latour dinner in Hong Kong.
