The story

Hospices de Beaune, also known as Hôtel-Dieu, is a historic charitable institution located in Beaune, Burgundy, France. Founded in 1443 by Nicolas Rolin, the Chancellor of the Duke of Burgundy, it was originally established to provide care for the poor and sick. The stunning architecture features a distinctive polychrome tile roof and intricate Gothic design, making it a significant landmark in the region.

Auctions

Today, Hospices de Beaune is renowned for its annual wine auction, held every November, which is one of the most prestigious charity wine auctions in the world. The wines sold at the auction are produced from the Hospices' vineyards, which cover approximately 60 hectares and include some of the finest plots in Burgundy, primarily growing Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The proceeds from the auction fund the hospital and various charitable activities, continuing the institution's long-standing commitment to social welfare.
